Virtual particles are believed to just pop in and out of existence in a fraction of a second. Virtual particles are believed to come in pairs one made of matter the other antimatter. These particles annihilate one another immediately. They can only be detected by the energy left behind from their annihilation. There is another possible explanation for the energy that is being detected. This could be matter and antimatter neutrinos colliding. The energy being released from these collisions is enough to keep from the complete destruction of all matter and antimatter happening all at once. There is a lot of antimatter missing from our universe. Scientist have tried to find the missing antimatter or at least explain why it’s missing. The collisions between these neutrinos could explain why the universe is speeding up and why gravity is so weak. If correctt as the universe expands the number of collisions between matter and antimatter increases which causes the universe to accelerate as it expands ever faster and faster
